Masatoshi Ohno Wins Billabong Pro Tahara presented by Xperia!!

2013 ASP Japan Calendar event 5, Billabong Pro Tahara presented by Xperia went into day 4 and final day today at Oishi Beach (AKA Irago Long Beach), Akabane, Tahara, Aichi.

Today the event went on schedule for action for the round of 16 and all the way and crowed the 2013 event champion this afternoon.

The conditions at Oishi Beach this morning were 2 to 3 ft. (1.5 meter) with nice off shore and weather.

Contest director Mic Kato called the surfers this morning at the first call at 7:30AM to get in action for final day starting with round of 16 followed by man on man quarters, semis and final then and crowned the 2013 edition event champion this afternoon.

Semi finals heat 1 was a great showdown of young gun Shun Murakami (JPN) and Kylen Yamakawa (HAW) 2 surfers whom both got equal 3rd places at last years 2012 edition of event in Shonan. A very close heat with Yamakawa with a 12.37combined points to Murakami with an 11.57 points and Yamakawa moves to the final. Semi final heat 2 was by Masatoshi Ohno (JPN) fresh from a win at last week’s 3 Star event in Shonan vs. the inform surfer scoring many of the high scores at the event by the name Kaoliopuuwai Kahokul (HAW). 16.07 vs. 14.07 by Ohno overcoming Kahokul and Ohno moves to the finals with Yamakawa.

Finals were an all goofy footers final by Masatoshi Ohno (JPN) and Kylen Yamakawa (HAW).
Yamakawa scores a 4.13 and 4.87 points to make a combined score of 9.00. However Ohno who scored 1 excellent score in the finals of 9.10 and backed up with a 7.60 makes a combined score of 16.70points and claims a win with 2 straight victories.

Billabong Pro Tahara 2013 FINAL RESULTS:

1st, 1000Pts, U$15000: Masatoshi Ohno (JPN)

2nd, 750Pts, U$7500: Kylen Yamakawa (HAW)

3rd place, 563Pts, U$4250: Shun Murakami (JPN), Kaoliopuuwai Kahokul (HAW)

Next stop on 2013 ASP Japan Calendar will be Junior Men’s 、Junior Girl’s 、and Cadet Boys event Go Pro JUNIOR to be held the coming
August 4th and 5th at Ichinomiya, Chosei, Chiba.
